Measurable Results Assessment

Aligning Practices and Results

From Insight to Impact: Data That Drives Schoolwide Growth

Leading a school is no small task. Every day, school leaders work to balance academic achievement, student well-being, and a positive school culture—all while keeping an eye on long-term improvement. But without clear, actionable data, it’s hard to know what’s working, what needs adjustment, and where to focus efforts for the greatest impact.
The Leader in Me Measurable Results Assessment® (MRA®) helps schools bridge this gap. By assessing key areas of Leadership, Culture, and Academics, the MRA provides a clear picture of strengths and opportunities, helping schools set meaningful goals and track progress over time. Instead of relying on fragmented data or guesswork, school leaders can use the MRA to gain valuable insights and create a roadmap for lasting improvement.

What is the Measurable Results Assessment?

The MRA is a validated survey and reporting system designed in collaboration with researchers and refined through years of feedback from K–12 educators. It provides schools with real, usable data that reflects the outcomes of Leader in Me implementation. Within the Leader in Me Framework, the MRA represents the “Get” phase—helping schools measure their progress and impact.

The assessment gathers input from students, staff, and families to evaluate performance across three key areas:

Leadership: Measures staff and student leadership development and assesses family engagement.

Culture: Evaluates school climate, student empowerment, and relationships within the school community.

Academics: Assesses goal achievement, academic mindsets, and life-readiness skills.

By taking a whole-school approach, the MRA ensures that schools focus on more than just test scores—helping to create environments where every student can thrive.

What Does the MRA Measure?

The MRA captures a holistic view of what makes a school successful by collecting feedback from staff, students, and students’ families. Its measures reflect the interconnected elements of Leadership, Culture, and Academics. These insights give schools a clear understanding of their progress and guide their next steps.

Key measures include:
  • Student Empowerment: Understanding how students view their ability to lead, make decisions, and take charge of their learning.
  • Staff Leadership and Efficacy: Gauging trust, collaboration, and the collective effectiveness of the school’s staff.
  • Family and Community Engagement: Measuring the strength of relationships and partnerships between schools, families, and the broader community.
  • Supportive Environments: Assessing the levels of wellness, trust, and engagement for both students and staff.

These measures are rooted in research, helping schools connect their everyday actions to long-term success.

How Schools Use the Measurable Results

The Measurable Results Assessment guides schools through a continuous improvement cycle by answering three essential questions:

  • Where are we now? Schools receive detailed data on more than 20 sub-measures, such as student empowerment and teacher efficacy.
  • Where do we want to be? Schools set targeted goals based on research-backed outcomes.
  • How will we get there? The MRA links results to specific Leader in Me practices and resources, helping schools take focused, high-impact action.

By using the MRA each year, schools can track their progress, adjust strategies, and ensure that their efforts lead to meaningful growth.
