Objective evidence of Leader in Me effectiveness has been steadily growing since 2010. To date, over 30 independent academic-research studies have evaluated this unique process and determined the positive impacts of Leader in Me across a wide variety of areas. Below are research highlights from each of these areas, organized by the related Leader in Me outcome within three broad categories: leadership, culture, and academics.
Leadership is a choice, and for Leader in Me students, leadership choices are demonstrated most clearly through self-discipline. Negative interactions with peers and incidents of poor self-control in the classroom often arise from a lack of self-discipline. Students throughout Leader in Me Schools learn the skills of personal and interpersonal leadership and, consequently, their self-discipline increases while schoolwide discipline referrals inevitably decline.
