The First 8 Days

The First 8 Days digital lesson plans are designed to establish leadership classrooms and build the foundation for Leader in Me curriculum in the first days and weeks of school. 

The First 8 Days lesson plans offer K–8 educators powerful tools to establish leadership classrooms at the beginning of the school year using daily modules that align with the 7 Habits® and the 8th Habit®. With a focus on building high-trust classroom culture, these resources establish the foundation for integrating the Leader in Me curriculum. The series is designed to fit any classroom with flexible content available in multiple languages, digital and print delivery options, and built-in professional development to support educators who are new to Leader in Me. 

All resources are available via Leader in Me Online, included in the Leader in Me Annual Membership.

Curriculum Design

The Leader in Me Curriculum couples a focus on student-competency development with the Empowered-Learning Approach to lay out a predictable guide for supporting teachers and students in establishing leadership classrooms.

Module Overview

 

The Leader in Me Curriculum features a modular design with modules corresponding to days. Module Overviews provide educators with a quick glance at upcoming instructional content for the week.

Each module represents one day and includes

    • A learning standard
    • A connection to FranklinCovey award-winning content, including The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People
    • A Student Leadership Portrait Competency focus designed to help students lead themselves and others
    • A vocabulary list to support pre-teaching efforts
    • Three to four 45-minute lessons with an end in mind that is shared with students
    • Digital slides for presenting each lesson
    • 15- and 30- minute extension activities
