Dr. Stephen Schilling (2018) University of Michigan

This quasi-experimental study explored the effect of Leader in Me on disciplinary rates in Florida elementary schools. The analysis used publically available school-level data pulled from Florida’s Department of Education and Common Core of Data to run propensity-score analyses to accurately match Leader in Me with non-Leader in Me Schools. A generalized linear model Poisson regression analysis was used for the quasi-experimental study with 77 Leader in Me Schools and 1,932 control schools. Results produced two major findings.

• 13.17% reduction in disciplinary incidence in Florida Leader in Me Schools
• 22.84% improvement in student behavior in Florida Leader in Me Schools
